Marla Gilcrease

Marla Gilcrease is news director for KNOE. As news director, Marla is in charge of the entire news department, managing the team of news anchors, reporters, producers, photographers, editors, and also the news production department. She is also responsible for the appearance of the newscasts and also the online editions of KNOE 8 News.

Marla has been in the television news industry since 1982. She started her career at KNOE as a news photographer. From Monroe she went to KSLA in Shreveport where she was a photographer and also a show director. In 1995 she joined the Dallas news team of FOX 4 as a director, making her responsible for putting their newscasts on air.

From FOX 4 News, Dallas, she moved to New York, New York, where she directed shows for FOX Newschannel.

“One of my goals was to direct a show for Paula Zahn,” said Marla, “and in 2000, my goal became reality.”

Marla spent two years in New York directing live shows for FOX when she decided to move back home to Louisiana.

She moved from New York City back to Shreveport and became Assistant News Director for KTAL. After six years there, she moved to KNOE as Assignment Editor. In just five months, Marla went from directing the staff on the news of the day to managing the entire news department.

Marla enjoys living in Monroe, and taking advantage of all the fun, easy way to spend her free time.
